Chicago is a great economic and cultural metropolis.
Although it is largely surpassed by New York and Los Angeles, both in terms of population and international scope, Chicago is nevertheless the largest city between the east and west coasts of the United States, and the economic engine of the entire Great Lakes region. However, this meteoric rise caused imbalances in the city – the industries settled in priority on the south arm of the Chicago river, on the Calumet canal and around the iron and steel complex of Gary, a history still very visible in the city of today. The heart of Chicago, the Loop, named after the 1893 metro route that encircles it, has undergone a makeover since the 1970s, thanks in particular to the decommissioning of port lands and those former railways, competing with air transportation. The Sears Tower (renamed Willis Tower in 2009), the second tallest skyscraper in the United States (443 m), was thus built on old railroad tracks; many other operations have further enriched Chicago’s architectural heritage, notably on the Magnificent Mile, the city’s most prestigious artery. The Art Institute, one of the richest museums in the country, as well as an internationally renowned symphony orchestra ensure the city its place among the major North American cultural capitals.
If you are a student, the Chicago Campus is truly incredible! They are fortunate to attend classes in a grand building in the center of the Loop financial district. The teachers push them to give the best of themselves. The Chicago pedagogical education allows them to acquire knowledge on how to do business in the United States but also in many other fields (Digital Marketing, Human Resources, Cost Savings, Architecture). In addition, group projects allow them to quickly put this knowledge into practice. Your time on campus will be an unforgettable experience!
The United States is a nation of great variety, which is fascinating! After stays in the four corners of the country, you could still surprised by its linguistic, culinary and artistic riches. And there is not better place than Chicago to enjoy gastronomic American food.
As far as I am concerned, I am very satisfied with the quality of education provided on the Chicago Campus! The courses are different from those you could take in Europe but just as enriching, which is a real plus for an MBA course. The courses you can particularly enjoy are the Business Ethics and Doing Business in the US courses. These two courses provide a solid foundation for students wanting to work in the United States!
Regarding visiting Chicago, the top recommended and the best places are the Cloud Gate, known as “Bean”, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Navy Pier, the Sears Tower and the Sky Deck. There are also the Wicker Park and Hyde Park areas not to be missed! Finally, you will love visiting the University of Chicago: the architecture of the buildings is reminiscent of the corridors of a famous wizarding school, Hogwarts!
